15 more stars join Mexico's roster for the GAME OF LEGENDS

The Monterrey Organizing Committee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ announces 15 more players for its GAME OF LEGENDS to be held on September 20.

With today's announcement, 27 of the 30 stars who will be part of the GAME OF LEGENDS have now joined the roster of the Mexican team.

The match will pit FIFA International Legends against FIFA Mexico Legends at 8:30 p.m. at the Monterrey Stadium.

The previously announced legends:

Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet, Diego Forlán, Oribe Peralta, Oswaldo Sánchez, Miguel Layún, Gianluigi Buffon, Carles Puyol, John Terry, Luis Hernández, Jorge Campos and Jared Borgetti.

Who are the 15 stars joining the Game of Legends?

Didier Drogba: He is considered the best footballer in the history of the Ivory Coast. He participated in three FIFA World Cups™ (2006, 2010 and 2014), where he played eight matches and scored two goals. In addition, with Chelsea in England, he won a UEFA Champions League and four Premier League titles, as well as a league title in Turkey with Galatasaray and was twice winner of the African Footballer of the Year award.

Javier Zanetti: One of the historic players of Internazionale Milan, where he spent 19 seasons and played 858 matches. With the Italian club he won the league title five times, a UEFA Champions League in 2010 and the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup™. He also played for Argentina at the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cup™.

Youri Djorkaeff: World champion with France at the 1998 FIFA World Cup™ and played in the 2002 edition. He was crowned champion with Les Bleus at the 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup™ and UEFA Euro 2000.

Houssine Kharja: He played for the Moroccan national team between 2003 and 2015, playing 79 games and scoring 13 goals. Among the clubs he played for as a professional are Sporting Lisbon, AS Roma, Internazionale Milan and Fiorentina.

Maxi Rodríguez: Remembered by Mexican fans because his goal at the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ eliminated Mexico in the round of 16 and gave Argentina a place in the next round. He also played in the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup™. His professional career was spent with Atlético de Madrid, Liverpool, among other teams.

Julio César: The Brazilian goalkeeper was with his national team from 2004 to 2014 where he defended the goal in 87 matches. He was called up for the FIFA World Cup™ in 2006, but saw action in the 2010 and 2014 tournaments. He was crowned champion with Brazil of the FIFA Confederations Cup™ in 2009 and 2013, as well as the Copa América in 2004.

Guillermo Franco: The naturalized Mexican forward was present in seven FIFA World Cup™ matches with Mexico (2006 and 2010). He participated with clubs such as San Lorenzo, Villarreal, West Ham and where he scored the most goals (63), was with Rayados de Monterrey.

Aldo de Nigris: The Mexican forward is one of the most recognized players among Nuevo León fans. He played with the two clubs in the city, Tigres de la UANL and Rayados, with the latter he achieved the three-time Concacaf club championship. He was a member of the national team and won the Gold Cup with Mexico in 2011.

Ricardo Osorio: He played for Mexico in two editions of the FIFA World Cup™, in 2006 and 2010, and was a winner of the Gold Cup twice (2003 and 2011). His quality led him to play in Germany with Stuttgart where he played 101 matches, in addition to a notable stint with Cruz Azul and Rayados de Monterrey.

Braulio Luna: The Mexican midfielder participated in six matches between the 1998 FIFA World Cup™ and the 2002 FIFA World Cup™. He was selected for the national team since 1997 and his last call-up was in 2010. His career was in national football where he participated with Club América, Pumas de la UNAM, among others.

Francisco Javier Rodríguez: Three-time World Cup player with Mexico. He played nine matches in the FIFA World Cup™ between the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions, as well as two FIFA Confederations Cup™ in 2005 and 2013. He was champion in the Netherlands (Super Cup with PSV), and won a couple of leagues with Club América and Club Deportivo Guadalajara, as well as the Gold Cup with the Mexican national team in 2015.

Francisco Fonseca: Nicknamed Kikín, he began his professional career with Unión de Curtidores. In the Mexican league, one of his most important achievements was the second championship he achieved with the Pumas de la UNAM in 2004. He also played in Europe with Benfica of Portugal for a short period. With the Mexican national team, he participated in the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup™ and the 2006 FIFA World Cup™.

Jorge Torres Nilo: He played for Tigres de la UANL between 2010 and 2020, where he won 10 titles. He was called up to the Mexican national team for eight years on several occasions, and assisted at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, in addition to winning the Gold Cup twice (2011 and 2015).

Paul Aguilar: The Mexican player was a winner par excellence, with a total of 16 titles between national and international titles and with the Mexican national team. In addition, he participated in two editions of the FIFA World Cup™ in 2010 and 2014, where he played five games in total. At the local level, he was champion with Pachuca and Club América, and with the national team he was part of the squad that won the Gold Cup twice and the Concacaf Cup in 2015.

Pável Pardo: Winner of the Bundesliga with Stuttgart in 2007, twice champion with Club América. He was the winner of the FIFA Confederations Cup™ title with the Mexican national team in 1999, helped them win the Gold Cup title in 1998 and 2003. He participated in the 1998 and 2006 FIFA World Cup™.
